2026 Golf Scholarship Recipients
Fifty-seven deserving high school seniors were recognized at the 29th annual Greenville County Schools (GCS) Foundation Scholarship event held at Roper Mountain Science Center. Each senior received a $1,500 scholarship for a total of $85,500. Forty-seven golf scholarships were awarded following the Foundation’s annual golf tournament in the Fall of 2025. Additionally, ten Future Teacher Scholarships were awarded.
The GCS Foundation is a nonprofit organization established to support students by providing educational scholarships, to encourage students to join the teaching profession, and to support our teaching and non-teaching staff by providing funding for advanced degrees, additional certifications, and professional development.
“It’s an honor to join you and your families to celebrate your impressive work,” said GCS Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster. “You are already leaders in this community. I wish you success in college and in your future careers.”
More than $850,500 has been raised for scholarships since the first tournament was held in 1997. In addition to their scholarships, students received a gift from Herff Jones.
“There are more than 5,200 twelfth grade students in Greenville County,” said Elizabeth House, GCS Director of School Counseling Services, “and you should all be very proud of yourselves for being selected as the Foundation’s Golf Scholarship recipients.”
Rachel Turner, Future Teacher Academy Specialist for Greenville County Schools, announced the ten students selected for the GCS Foundation’s Future Teacher Scholarship.
“I would like to echo congratulations to the Class of 2026 seniors selected for these scholarships,” Turner said. “We are so grateful for the work of the GCS Foundation as ten of these distinguished graduates are being recognized this morning.”
The Future Teacher Academy will graduate 95 seniors with distinction who have declared education as their college major with the intention of teaching.
