2025 Golf Scholarship Recipients
Fifty-three deserving high school seniors were recognized at the 28th annual Greenville County Schools (GCS) Foundation Scholarship event held at Southside High. Each senior received a $1,500 scholarship for a total of $79,500. Forty-five golf scholarships were awarded following the Foundation’s annual golf tournament in the Fall of 2024. Additionally, eight of the scholarships awarded were the newly created GCS Foundation Future Teacher Scholarships.
The GCS Foundation is a nonprofit organization established to support students by providing educational scholarships, to encourage students to join the teaching profession, and to support our teaching and non-teaching staff by providing funding for advanced degrees, additional certifications, and professional development.
“I’m proud to join you, your families, principals and counselors in celebrating your impressive work,” said GCS Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster. “You are the leaders of tomorrow, and your hard work and dedication have earned this recognition. Congratulations to you and your families!”
More than $780,000 has been raised for scholarships since the first tournament was held in 1997. In addition to their scholarships, students received a personalized gift from The Waters Group.
“The selected students display a strong sense of character and natural leadership,” said Elizabeth House, GCS Director of School Counseling Services. “Each of them represent Greenville County Schools and their school communities well.”
Rachel Turner, Future Teacher Academy Specialist for Greenville County Schools, announced the eight students selected for the GCS Foundation’s Future Teacher Scholarship.
“The Future Teacher Academy is a new program in Greenville County Schools that provides three years of teacher preparation courses for students interested in becoming educators,” Turner said. “Thanks to the support of school district administration, Dr. Royster and the Board of Trustees, we are so excited to officially launch the Future Teacher Academy this year offering various levels of the program in all fifteen high schools.”
The Future Teacher Academy will graduate 82 seniors with distinction who have declared education as their college major with the intention of teaching.
