Congratulations to the SHS Academic Team
The SHS Varsity Academic Team placed second at the North Greenville University Crusader Cup, going unbeaten until the final round. The JV team won their division in the first tournament for most of the team. Hasna Karim was the top scorer at the entire tournament.
Freshman Tigers of Month:
Congratulations to the following students for being selected Freshman Tigers of the Month for September: Brinton Gambrell – MYP Learner (Balanced), Nancy Ramos Luna - Algebra, James Cannon – English, Kathryn Ford – Physical Education, Damarius Robinson-Irby - English, Dymend Burton – World Geography, Amia Richardson – Earth Science. Students received a pizza party, t-shirt and certificate for being selected.
Each fall, SC PTA Reflections Art Program sends out a request to all Greenville County Schools for student to come out an show their talent in the arts. Deadlines are set (usually early October). School entries are judged by impartial sources not affiliated with the school. First, second, third and now 4th place with (2) Honorable Mentions are awarded for each category. If less than five entries are received for a category, entries are still ranked. K-12 is the age range along with any Special Artists (a total of 60 possible awards + any special artist awards; 6 arts categories x 5 placement awards = primary AND 6 arts categories x 5 placement awards = intermediate). So we’re asking you all at Southside High to come out and show your talents by Participating in 1 of the 6 categories. We know how creative we are now lets shine out for our District and our State.
Greenville Regional Education Center to Host SAT/ACT Test Taking Strategies Workshop
The Greenville Region of Personal Pathways to Success is hosting a free SAT/ACT workshop on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the University Center in Greenville from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The instructor for the course, Derrick Smith of SC Test Prep has successfully prepared thousands of students for the SAT and ACT.
