2015 Southside High School PTSA Reflection Winners

SHS Beta Club Sponsors PowderPuff Game
The SHS Beta Club will sponsor a Powder Puff Football Game on Friday, March 20.  The game will be held at the SHS football field from 6:00-8:00pm.  All students and faculty are encouraged to participate!  See Ms. Johnson in RM 126 for complete details.

SHS Drama Club Presents....
The SHS Drama Club presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee".  The musical will be Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 in the SHS auditorium.  Tickets will be sold at the door for $8 for adults and $5 for children.  Advanced tickets will be sold for $5.  Any questions, contact SHS High School.

National Merit Scholarhip Finalist

Congratulations to the following Southside High School students who have been named National Merit Scholarship Finalists: Nathaniel Brown, Eric Johnson, Venkatraman Kothandaraman, Carolyn Ziyuan-Shen Liu, Amil Merchant, and Prateek Shah.

Universal Free Breakfast

Southside High School has been selected to participate in the Universal Free Breakfast Program, this decision was made based on your school’s Free and Reduced Meal Status (FARMS) being 50% or above. Universal Free Breakfast allows breakfast to be served at no charge to all students, regardless of their FARMS. There will be no changes to your breakfast service by implementing Universal Free Breakfast. Menus, meal times and locations will remain the same, the only difference is all students will eat for free. Click HERE for complete details.

SHS Forensics News

Congratulations to the Southside HS Speech and Debate Team on a fantastic showing at the 2015 Harvard University National Speech and Debate Tournament for High Schools.  Despite the brutal temperatures and piles of snow, Southside Speech and Debate had another successful run.  An enormous shout out goes to freshman Chase Garrett.  Chase not only won all of his preliminary rounds, but he advance to the final round where four of the five judges ranked him first and the tournament crowned him the 2015 Dramatic Interpretation Champion.  More detailed results are: Dramatic Interpretation: CHASE GARRETT - FINALIST - CHAMPION (1ST OUT OF 344 COMPETITORS); Duo Interpretation: Chase Garrett & Kendal "Drew" Samuel - Octafinalists (32nd out of 174 Teams); Extemporaneous Speaking: Prateek Shah - Octafinalist (45th out of 244 competitors), Hasna Karim - Octafinalist (46th out of 244 competitors)

SHS Senior Awarded Max Heller Scholarship

Congratulations to Haley Brummett the winner Furman University's Max Heller Scholarship.  Haley will be awarded $20,000 annually during her four years at Furman. 

SHS AFJROTC Sponsors Fundraiser for SC Leukemia Society
Southside High School Air Force Junior ROTC is sponsoring a fundraiser from February 9 to March 6 to raise money for the SC Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  All teachers, faculty, staff, students and community are encouraged to participate. Click HERE for complete details.
