ACE Awards Information

The ACE Awards (Advocates for Character and Education) was created by Greg Blatt, Founder and Executive Director of Coaches 4 Character. It is an annual award given to 74 male and female students from each of the 36 Greenville County middle and high schools.  It will honor one male and one female from each middle and high school in grades 8 and 12 who are considered the true “unsung heroes” in their schools. These are students who might go unnoticed for one reason or another, students who are role models, who work hard and give their best effort, students who are all too often not recognized for their accomplishments, or students who demonstrate unusual commitment to academics despite various obstacles. The award ceremony will be organized and hosted by Coaches 4 Character and Greenville county school counselors. Anyone can nominate a student: faculty and staff, parents, community members, and students. The nomination form is online at

Calling all Giving Gators!

Rudolph Gordon School wants to make sure that all of our students have a Happy Holiday.  This year we are “Giving Gators” and want to help our RGS families with gift cards to assist them with help during the Holiday season.  If you would like to donate a gift card during the week of November 29th -December 3rd, we are collecting 25-dollar Walmart Gift cards to be distributed to our Gator Families.  The “Giving Gators” gift cards will take the place of the Gordon Giving Tree. Students can turn in gift cards to their Homeroom teacher.  The counselors will be hosting a hot chocolate and candy cane party for the classes in each grade level that bring in the most gift cards.  Thank you to all of our RGS community in helping us support our family’s that need assistance for the Holidays.

Each student who participates must sign up on the sign-up sheet located on the middle school gym door. To attend, each student must have a car ride home from school. Bus transportation is not provided. Parents, please park in the middle school car loop and be present by 3:30. If students are not picked up by 3:30, they will be taken to the front office. If students are picked up late more than 2 times, they will not be able to attend. Students need to pay attention each month as the sports will change and each sport will last 3 – 4 weeks. Students are expected to follow school rules during intramurals. Students who play in a school offered sport (7th & 8th grade) cannot attend intramurals during their sport season. Please contact Coach Stone if you have any questions.

Free Drive Through COVID testing for GCS Employees and Students

To better serve our employees and students, GCS has partnered with DHEC and MAKO Medical Laboratories to provide FREE COVID-19 drive-through testing at three sites across the county (Northside Park, MT Anderson, and Fountain Inn High School).  These testing sites will open next Monday, September 13, and are restricted for use by GCS employees and students only.  While it may be disappointing that spouses, college-age children, parents, and extended family cannot access this resource, restricting it helps ensure a quick turnaround (usually within 24 hours) and a streamlined process for you and our students.  Unlike last year’s testing clinics provided in partnership with Prisma Health, you do not need to make an appointment, obtain a doctor’s order, or present your insurance card to get tested.  Just show up, show your GCS I.D. (subs/virtual show pay stub), complete a consent form, and await results. These sites only conduct PCR testing, which is considered the most accurate type of test and is the only one that can be used to secure an early return from quarantine (Day 8 instead of Day 11).  The collection involves an interior nasal swab, but not a deep nasal swab.

This flyer (Spanish Version) provides more information, including location addresses and hours, as well as requirements for an early return from quarantine. We hope this new access to testing saves you time, allows us to bring healthy employees and students back from quarantine a few days early, and helps with early identification of COVID so we can slow the spread in our community and schools.

Holiday hours will not change, but all three testing sites will be closed on the following dates:  Nov. 24-26, Dec. 24-26, and Dec. 31 – Jan. 1.  Mako has committed to further expedite the results of tests taken on Sunday, January 2, which is the last day before GCS returns to work/school on the January 3.

Early Releaser form Quarantine

Quarantined students will soon be able to return to school three days earlier if they are symptom free and follow DHEC guidelines for an early release from quarantine. To qualify, students must receive a negative result on a COVID-19 PCR test collected no sooner than day 5 of the quarantine period. As soon as the negative PCR test result has been received, that result should be submitted via email to along with the student’s name, school, and, if available, the student i.d. number. As quickly as possible, our staff will respond via email with a revised date of return, which cannot be before day 8. Your child will not be allowed back in school until the GCS Medical staff has validated the test results and provided an updated return date. Remember that for early return, only a PCR test is accepted, not a rapid antigen or home test. This option is not available to students in isolation due to a positive COVID test it is only for those who are on quarantine and have no symptoms of COVID-19. Thank
you for helping us return students from DHEC required quarantines as quickly as possible. An interactive map showing DHEC approved testing locations is available at
