FFA Boots Day -Tuesday, February 19
The FFA will have a Corn hole tournament in the gym, before school, beginning Tuesday, February 19 and continues throughout the week. $2.00 to play before school in the gym.

Junior Scholars Opportunities
Presbyterian College Junior Fellows Award is a scholarship that awards $1,000.00 annually for four years of study at Presbyterian College. Eligible students must be current high school juniors who meet the following criteria: GPA of 3.5 or more, ranked in the top 10% of the current junior class, have a PSAT or SAT score of 1100 or higher, or an ACT composite score of 22 or higher. Students who are selected as a PC Fellow may be considered for other academic scholarships ranging from $6,000 to full cost of attendance. Students who meet this criteria and who are interested in possibly attending Presbyterian College should see Ms. Genova in guidance to be nominated before April 1, 2019!
The Converse College Junior Scholars Program is an opportunity for young women who have at least a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate exceptional academic talent and a passion for learning. The young women who are nominated will receive priority consideration for Converse Scholarships should they choose to apply to Converse their senior year. Students who are interested in being nominated should see Ms. Genova in guidance before April 8, 2019!
Lander University Junior Fellows Program is an opportunity for juniors who rank in the top 20% of their class, have at least a 3.5 GPA, exemplify leadership in both academics and co-curricular activities, and who scored a minimum of 25 ACT or a 1200 SAT/PSAT. Selected students receive priority for scholarship opportunities should they choose to apply and attend Lander. Junior Fellows are also invited to attend Lander’s Junior Preview Day event, tour campus, as well as meet with faculty and students. Students who are interested in being nominated should see Ms. Genova in guidance before March 8, 2019!
FBLA Blood Drive
FBLA will be sponsoring a Blood Drive on Monday, February 25 from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm in the media center. The local supply is very low and the Blood Connection needs your help! Every donation can save three lives! All donors will receive a $10 Chic-fil-a gift card AND a t-shirt! You must be 17 to donate without parent permission and weigh at least 110 pounds. If you are 16 you can donate with parent permission. Sign-up in the library today!
Bataan Memorial Hike & Upstate Warrior Solutions Fundraiser
BRHS AFJROTC is conducting a 14-mile hike in memory of the Bataan Death March from March 28th to the 30th. Additionally, members of AFJROTC will be taking pledges for their miles to raise money for Upstate Warrior Solutions.
AFJROTC will be accomplishing a 14-mile hike from March 28th-30th with the culminating 5 miles along the beautiful Swamp Rabbit Trail from Travelers Rest to Greenville. Cadets will be taking pledges to raise money for the Upstate Warrior Solutions beginning February 15th.
1st Semester iTime
Students, the BRHS faculty/staff hope you enjoyed the 1st semester ITime Celebration. Please continue to strive to do your very best. Those students that received tickets from your Advisory teachers on Friday but you did not attend the event will need hold on to your ticket in order to receive your t-shirt. You will get your t-shirt in the next week or two.
Calling on all ITime achievers, remember to wear your t-shirts every Friday. Ms. Lynch-Miner and Ms. Watson will randomly choose Fridays to give out special incentives.
Teacher Cadet Applications
Attention all rising Juniors and Seniors with a 3.0, or higher, GPA: Teacher Cadet is an innovative, curriculum-based college level, AP weighted course, without an AP exam, designed to attract talented young people to the education profession through a challenging introduction to teaching. The Teacher Cadet Program seeks to provide high school students insight into the nature of teaching, the problems of schooling, and the critical issues affecting the quality of education in America’s schools. See Mr. Phillips in D108 or the counseling office for an application. All applications are due no later than March 22, 2019.

Congratulations Girl's Basketball team
Congratulations to our Blue Ridge Girl's Basketball team on clinching the Region Championship last night with a win over Berea, 69-42. The girls will host the first round of the playoffs this upcoming Tuesday, February 12th. Other congratulations to Abby King on reaching career point number 1,000. Way to go!
El Dorado Yearbook
Attention Rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors:
The El Dorado Yearbook Staff is looking for self-disciplined, hardworking, and dedicated staff members. If you are interested in applying for a spot on the staff, please pick up an application and teacher recommendation forms outside of Ms. Hendley's room (B117). All applications and teacher recommendations are due back to Ms. Hendley no later than 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2019.
The Palmetto State School Counselor Association will award three high school seniors a $1,000.00 non-renewable scholarship! To be eligible, the applicant must be a high school senior attending a public or private secondary school in the state of South Carolina, must be a permanent resident of the state of South Carolina, and must plan to attend a post-secondary institution during the 2019-2020 school year. The application will involve an essay of no more than 500 words about a school counselor who has made a difference in your academic, career, social, and/or emotional development. You may additionally include your career goals, post-secondary education plans, and an explanation for how the scholarship will help you. Applicants will also submit their transcript, a letter of recommendation, and a copy of an admission letter from the school they plan to attend. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2019, and students should see Ms. Genova in guidance for applications!
Starting in August of 2019, if a student drives to school, driving privileges may be suspended for tardiness. The specific process will be included on the Parking Application, in the Student Handbook, and in the August Newsletter.

Junior Leadership Greer
Junior Leadership Greer is fast approaching its 31st year challenging Sophomores and Juniors in the Greater Greer area. We are looking for students who have demonstrated potential leadership ability, positive peer relations, personality, and a grade point average of at least a “C”. We want a diverse group of students from your school to participate and need your help finding those that may need an opportunity to shine and grow as a leader. Help us find students who may need that extra push and have potential to do great things in their community! Counselors have the applications and they are due March 29th! Please note that this is an opportunity for rising sophomores and juniors only! See Ms. Genova in guidance with any questions.
