News & Notes
eLearning Monday, February 2 and Tuesday February 3
Greenville County Schools is on eLearning Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3. Schools and office buildings will be closed, and all activities, including athletic events and field trips, are canceled. This decision was made based on current snow and ice, forecasted freezing temperatures, which may result in continued unsafe road conditions, and the significant amount of work needed to clear campus entries and driveways once it’s safe for crews to do so. A decision about Wednesday will be made Tuesday afternoon.
Because we are an approved eLearning district, the day will not have to be made up, so long as instruction is provided to students. Students will complete eLearning assignments later if they are unable to participate due to power outages, lack of internet service, or other barriers. Schools will be in contact with specifics on the eLearning process. Once operations resume, school personnel will begin rescheduling events as appropriate.
Please check local media, the district website, and the district’s social media for the latest information on school closings or delays.

eLearning Expectations and Helpful Hints
he state Education Oversight Committee approved Greenville County Schools as an eLearning district in the fall of 2020. This designation allows the district to conduct eLearning on inclement weather days. The eLearning days are not counted against the district and therefore do not require the use of make-up days. Below are the procedures and expectations for students on eLearning days.
Inclement Weather:
For the purpose of inclement weather days, eLearning is defined as live instruction throughout the day. This live instruction may be with a whole group, small group, and/or individual sessions. Students are expected to log on to their live instruction through their Google Classroom during inclement weather days. If students are unable to join the live meets due to power loss, sickness, etc., work must be made up within five days of returning to school. | Inclement Weather Instructions for Parents
