Students in Mrs. Denton's English I Honors classes recently participated in Letters to the Next President: Writing Our Future, an online writing and publishing project co-sponsored by Google and the National Writing Project.  So far, Riverside Middle is the only participating school in South Carolina! There are 118 middle and high schools across the country with letters already posted at the site.

 

Students wrote about issues and concerns they believe are important, issues they want our next president to act upon.  Topics were chosen by the students themselves to reflect their specific personal, regional, and age-related interests. Teachers and mentors guided students through the process of writing a persuasive letter or essay to the presidential candidates using Google Docs.
