Chromebook Information

In order to connect a Lake Forest issued Chromebook to a wifi network other than the districts, the GCSD Authenticate steps must be completed.  Download instructions here.

Every student in Greenville County Schools will be issued a district-owned Chromebook and charger to use for academic purposes. The annual Technology Fee has been waived for the 2021-22 school year. Parents/guardians will need to complete an online Chromebook Agreement form for EACH Lake Forest student in their family. Please note, if your student did not return his/her Chromebook last school year, he/she will not be issued a new one this year.

Chromebook Login and Authentication
If your student is having trouble logging into his or her Chromebook, please follow these steps. If help is still needed, please call 355-HELP or email 355-HELP@greenville.k12.sc.us.

Student Username: (all lower case)

First initial of student first name
First five letters of student last name
+ last four digits of student ID number
Student Password:

Student’s birthday without slashes
For example September 24, 2005 would be written like this 092405
To authenticate a district Chromebook, click on the GCSD Authentication icon on the Chromebook. Students will log in using their GCS username and password. They will need to authenticate the Chromebook for 6 hours, and this must be done EVERY DAY.

Para autenticar un Chromebook del distrito, haga clic en el icono de Autenticación de GCSD en el Chromebook. Los estudiantes iniciarán sesión con su nombre de usuario y contraseña de GCS. Deberán autenticar el Chromebook durante 6 horas, y esto debe hacerse TODOS LOS DÍAS.


Chromebook Repairs – Face to Face/E-Learning Students
On days that students physically attend school, students may turn in their Chromebook for repair at their school and receive a loaner device. Once repaired, the Chromebook will be returned to the school and must then be returned to the student.
 
On days when students participate in E-learning,  students may call (864) 355-4357 for assistance with minor issues.  If the Chromebook is not functioning properly, students should bring Chromebooks to the nearest career center (Mon-Thu, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) for repair and to receive a loaner device. Once repaired, Chromebooks will be returned to the student’s home school and must be returned to the student in exchange for the loaner Chromebook.
 
Chromebook Repairs – Virtual Students
Virtual students may call (864) 355-4357 for assistance with minor issues.  They may also bring Chromebooks to the nearest career center (Mon-Thu, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) for repair and to receive a loaner device. Once repaired, Chromebooks will be returned to the student’s home school. The school staff will then contact the student to notify them that the Chromebook is available for pickup.
 
ETS loaner Chromebooks returned from students should be held at the home school until further notice from ETS.
