Report Cards
Report Cards are sent to parents
at the end of each nine week
period. The information on the cards is intended to give students
and parents a means of evaluating the quality of work the student
is doing at school. We invite students and parents to
communicate with the principals, counselors, and teachers for a
discussion of any problem having to do with the student's progress.
New Middle
School Grading Scale
Middle school students will receive
a numeric grade for each subject
based on Tour grading scale. The numeric grade and category of the
course determine the quality points
earned for each subject.
Middle school courses, except those taken for high school credit,
earn the
base weight. A grade of 62 or below for any high school course
will result in earning zero
quality points.
Tour grading scale will provide consistency
across South Carolina.
This is especially important for determining high school students'
eligibility
(based on grade point ratio) for college and for scholarships,
including a state LIFE scholarship.
If you have questions about our grading
scale, contact the
HMS Guidance Office at 967-1830.

Progress Reports
Progress reports will be sent home
in the middle of each report
card period for all students who are making an "F" or "D,"
or who
have dropped two grades since the last report card. These
reports must be signed by the parent and returned to the teacher
who sent the report home.
Homework
Asking students if they have
homework generally brings a "no" or
"I did it all in school" response. Plan with your son or daughter
a
certain time for studying. This time can be used for homework or
for studying; for reviewing notes, re-reading a chapter, or going
over work done in class.
