GCS Special Permission

Change in Assignment Renewals:

Students currently attending HMS on special permission will be automatically renewed to return to HMS next year. Renewal letters were sent home with these students in October with their Q1 report cards. If you want/need to deny your spot at HMS for next year, you must notify the planning and demographics department at 864-355-7266.

2026-2027 Change in Assignment Lottery Window:

From November 10-25, 2025, parents/guardians can go to their first-choice school to complete a form (this form is not available online and can only be completed in person). Parents will receive a copy of their choice form with a number they will use to later check the lottery results. Order of receipt of form during lottery window does not affect choice selection. (Note: Parents of 5K students for 2025-26 should submit choice requests during the Choice Lottery Window, and not wait until kindergarten registration. This includes parents who already have a sibling at the first-choice school. Space is the determining factor whether a child is granted a slot.)

Forms will not be distributed or accepted after the lottery window closes on November 25th, 2025.

The regular choice process will open January 6th, 2026.

Lottery Results will be posted no later than Wednesday, February 11, 2026, on the GCSD website.
