We will be hosting our spring Scholastic Book Fair April 3-10 in the library! Your child must turn in a signed permission form to be able to attend the book fair. You can also visit this website to see a list of books that could possibly be at our fair. Not all of these books will be available.
Please view the book fair schedule to see when your child's class will go to the fair. You can also bring your child to shop between 7:15-7:45 am. Students must have a signed permission form on file even if a parent brings them to the fair.
We accept cash, checks made out to Sara Collins, credit cards (with adult present), and eWallet (see the Scholastic website for more info). You can also shop online April 2-15 and have books delivered right to your house. We would love to have you volunteer to help during the fair, so go to our sign up genius to find a time to come help. Happy reading!

As required by the state, GCS Student Calendars for 2025-26 and 2026-27 have been updated to include three potential makeup days. These calendars were previously released in 2024. Makeup days will only be used if eLearning is not possible. Other than the three makeup days due to Hurricane Helene, GCS has only needed to use eLearning days and no makeup days in the last five years so it’s unlikely these will be needed outside of unusual, extenuating circumstances. We understand that some children need to carry a cellphone, smartwatch, or other smart device for before and after school communication. However, students do not need them during the day. We have a “bell to bell – no cellphone” expectation.
The cell phone or smart device must be kept in your child’s backpack during school hours and/or while in the school building.
Consequences:
First offense: Verbal warning
Second offense: Parent phone call
Third Offense: Parent/Teacher Conference (administration attendance possible)
Fourth Offense: Disciplinary Referral
