As I Lay Sleeping

Last night as I lay asleep in my bed
A dream popped right into my head
Not a nightmare filled with so much fright
But a happy, very cheerful light.
With angels watching overhead
While I lay sleeping in my bed.
Flowers swaying in the breeze
An empty field left just for me
A picnic meal with juice and bread
As I lay sleeping in my bed.
Leaping through the wild flowers
Wishing I could do it for hours and hours
What a delightful dream that's filled my head
As I lay sleeping in my bed.

Autumn

I walked down the street
Reaching for leaves in the air
Children jumping - crunch!
Jackets needed warmth
I walked on the pavement cold
My feet feel frozen.
I raked up the leaves
Grass is brown with crunching leaves
Running, jumping - crunch!
Trees swaying in air
Leaves in air flowing like waves
I love autumn! I'm running inside
The weather is wild, "ha chue!"
Fun and snow will come.

Rivers

Wild rolling ripples adding beauty
to our Earth
The sun's gleaming rays beat down
on the rivers
Shining as if the good Lord
were being born again
Making noises as if speaking to us
On a perfect day in spring.

by Brian, 4th Grade

Earth Day Poem

The flowing water, the lovely trees,
Every generation needs to see these!
The mountains that are covered in snow,
And the rainbow of flowers that grow
Will be gone if we don't care,
And then the Earth will be bare.
But if we clean up this mess that's under the sun,
The world will be great for everyone!

by Mallary, 4th Grade

Friends Forever

More valuable than money
More precious than gold
Friends will be there for me till the end
Both the young and the old

by Kayla, 4th Grade

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday
I love to hear them say
I'm another year older
What a wonderful day!

Tribute to the Duke

Can't you hear the jazz?
The piano-playin' kid, man.
Lady Luck smile at me.
Duke Ellington
He's the king of the keys, man.
Played soul sweet music.
Silver notes on sax
Trumpet and brass, ooh the sound
Lots of sassy tones.

Balls

Balls, balls, balls, balls...
How many types of balls in all?
One ball, two ball
Red ball, blue ball.
Heavy ball, light ball
Black ball, white ball.
Basketball, softball
Football, soccer ball.
Balls to chew and balls to kick,
Balls to bounce and balls to flick.
Wet ball, dry ball,
Ground ball, fly ball.
Balls of snow, and balls of dough.
How many balls?
We'll never know!
