SHS Students Win Junior Achievement Competition
Congratulations to the following SHS students: Apoorva Mahendranath and Christopher Tyson. Apoorva Mahendranath, who received first place and $500, and Christopher Tyson, who received second place and $300, represented Southside High School at the Upstate's Junior Achievement Pitch Competition on April 23. The pitch competition, which was judged by a large audience of peers, teachers, and local community members, tasked students with addressing the following prompt in a three-minute time frame: Why you will be an outstanding employee when you are ready to join the workforce. This event was part of a culminating celebration of our six week Junior Achievement program in which local professionals worked with our sophomore students on their career-ready, soft skills. The full-day celebration also included networking with local professionals and a formal luncheon.
