Students have many opportunities to be involved at Oakview on a daily basis. Students can serve on Student Council, News Team, Safety Patrol, Environmental Engineers, and Morning Tutors. C.L.U.B.S., and Oakview Players are an additional way that students can be a part of Oakview.
4th and 5th Grade students can also audition each spring for the chorus, ukulele, or drum performance groups. If you are new to Oakview and are interested in chorus, ukulele, or handbell performance groups, please see Heather Nash or Katelin Hawkins. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students can also apply for the Garden Club by seeing Charnley DeMeritt.
The Archery Club will serve as an opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students to get more practice shooting at targets. Students must adhere to the safety rules that are set-up in their PE classes. Grades: 4th & 5th.
The boys track club will meet once a week and build endurance for a 5K. Students will participate in various running activities on the track to strengthen technique and stamina. The club members will be encouraged to participate in a 5k. Grades: 3rd, 4th, & 5th
Students will strengthen flag football skills and knowledge. Teams will be set up by the coach and students need to be committed to the club dates and club times to secure fair game play. Grades: 4th & 5th.
Third, fourth, and fifth grade girls will meet to work on character development, body image, and physical strength and endurance. Grades: 3rd, 4th, & 5th.
Artists will explore processes and techniques in more depth than in regular art curriculum. Projects will include: acrylic painting, printmaking, weaving, water color, and art journaling. Grades: 3rd, 4th, & 5th.
Art Owls will have the opportunity to explore 2-D projects with a variety of art materials and techniques. Class will include media, painting, print making, etc. Grades: 3rd, 4th, & 5th.
The Sew What Club meets monthly to learn basic hand sewing techniques. Club members will make various small hand-crafted projects. Club members will be required to purchase a small list of tools that will be needed to make projects. Grades: 3rd, 4th, & 5th.
Students will learn how to strum basic ukulele chords used in all kinds of fun songs. Club members learn everything they need to hold tune and play a ukulele. Grades: 3rd, 4th, & 5th.
Student journalists will report the happenings at Oakview in the Owlet, our online student newspaper. Grades: 4th & 5th.
Students use Google -based lessons in Scratch to code different scenarios, including writing stories with plot and character development. Grades: 4th & 5th
Students learn marketing, digital design, and photography skills to design 3 pages of the yearbook. Grades: 5th
