HQ Air Force JROTC recently recognized Blue Ridge High School junior Meredith Frick as a top performer during their Unit Evaluation and has additionally awarded her a $20,000 AFJROTC Chief of Staff Flight Academy Private Pilot Scholarship. She was one of 150 students nationwide selected to attend a nine-week flight training program to earn her private pilot’s license and receive up to 12 college credits. 

Blue Ridge High School junior Meredith FrickThe Air Force JROTC Flight Academy Chief of Staff Private Pilot Scholarship program is a collaborative effort between the aerospace industry and the Air Force to address a national pilot shortage. The Flight Academy is intended to inspire and encourage high school youth toward aviation careers.

“Meredith is a truly exceptional student. She goes out of her way to be part of just about everything we do in JROTC,” said Major Chad Richardson, Sr. Aerospace Science Instructor at Blue Ridge High.  “She gets outstanding grades, she has impeccable integrity, and she’s always there for her peers as well as friends and family.”

Meredith is considering a college degree in either aeronautical engineering or criminal justice.
