Greenville County Schools is hosted its first annual gathering of GCS Athletic Directors, coaches, players and families to kick off the start of the 2018-2019 sports season at Bon Secours Wellness Arena 

Games+ Building a Better Graduate with Athletics celebrated the passion that high school sports ignites and spotlight the benefits of participation.  Athletes don’t just play games, they build friendships, leadership, commitment and character.  Athletes are motivated to perform better academically.  Last year GCS had 117 sports teams achieve a 4.0 GPA or better. 

Harold Hamilton, of Lexus of Greenville, announces the creation of six $2500 scholarships to Greenville Tech for student athletes interested in the automotive industry.Event sponsors Crown Nissan Greenville, Lexus of Greenville, Jaguar Land Rover Greenville and Toyota of Greenville announced the creation of six $2500 scholarships to be awarded to student-athletes to attend automotive related courses at Greenville Technical College.  Upon completion of their studies the graduates would be employed by Crown Nissan Greenville, Lexus of Greenville, Jaguar Land Rover Greenville or Toyota of Greenville.

Speakers included Craig Brown, owner of the Greenville Drive, Beth Paul, CEO of Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Carlos Phillips, President of the Greenville Chamber and Sandi Morris, Greenville High graduate and Olympic pole vault silver medalist.

Dr. Greg Dale, Sports Psychologist at Duke University, gave the keynote address encouraging athletes to mentally prepare for practice and set a purpose.  Dr. Dale told students to cheer on other players and not pout in front of their teammates.
