Greenville County Schools is partnering with the Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics to host CREATEng & iTEAMS Xtreme Next Generation camps at Fisher Middle School this summer.  Registration is open through May 15. Camps are for middle school students interested in engineering, automation and robots. CREATEng campers will design blades and gears for wind turbines, build heart rate monitors and print 3-D prototypes. iTEAMS campers will program their own micro-controlled robot and have robot competitions and dance contests.

CREATEng

June 12-15, 2017 | Fisher Middle School (Map and Directions)

CREATEng is GSSM’s one-of-a-kind engineering and design thinking day camp for rising 8th and 9th graders. Working through project-based, hands-on team challenges, students learn what engineering is and what engineers do. With a focus on manufacturing and biomedical engineering, student teams will be challenged to design blades and gears for a wind turbine, solder and build optical heart-rate monitors, and print 3-D prototypes of manufacturing or medical solutions for testing.

CREATEng students will interact with guest speakers and go on a field trip to a local company to see engineering in action.

Cost

 iTEAMS Xtreme Next Generation

June 26-29, 2017 | Fisher Middle School (Map and Directions)

We live in a world where everything is computerized and automated …down to the “micro” level! During iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation, rising 7th and 8th grade students will explore the world of microcontrollers, electronics and circuits, as well as how to program their very own micro-controlled robot. Robot competitions throughout the camp, such as Dance Robot Dance and Robot Wars, will help show off what students have learned.

For students who participated in Next Generation last summer, we’re offering iTEAMS Xtreme: Next Generation 2.0. During this advanced camp track, students will learn how to become an Arduino Game Maker! Throughout the week, students will learn how to create game tools such as a stopwatch, randomized die, buzzers and sensors. These tools will be used to build and play Arduino games. A SmartFaire at the end of the week will showcase their finished games. Game on!
