GCS Winter Weather Update
Update 10:10 am - Greenville County Schools will dismiss at the regular time today. All school sponsored activities, events, and programs, including after school care and athletics, must end by 5pm. This will allow all students and employees to get safely home before dark and before the storm is expected to develop.
Greenville County Schools administrators spent a significant amount of time this afternoon studying forecasts, consulting with experts and examining the events that are planned for this weekend involving our students. Based on this review, we have concluded the following decisions can be made at this time, while other decisions must be deferred until tomorrow.
- All field trips scheduled for Friday must be returned to the school by noon. If this is not possible, the trip must be canceled.
- All weekend events (home or away) have been canceled or postponed, including the regional band event scheduled for Greer High and the orchestra competition in Lexington.
- A decision will be made by Friday at 12 noon concerning Friday night activities, including basketball games, pageants, and all other school events.
