It is very important that all Youth in Government delegates check their school email at least once per day. Coach Snoad sent out 3 important emails to selected students. The information in those emails is very important. All delegates should also be checking the YIG Google Classroom daily as important information will be posted frequently as the dates for the conference near. HR Operations will host a job fair on next Tuesday, October 26, 2021, from 5-7 pm at Thomas E. Kerns Elementary School. This hiring event will focus on hiring bus drivers, bus aides, custodians and food service operators for the 2021-22 school year.
Congratulations to the Speech and Debate team for their 3rd place finish at last weekend's tournament at Bob Jones Academy. The following students also won individual awards: Chitra Nanda 4th place in Varsity Impromptu speaking, Kellan Hogue 3rd place in Novice Congressional Debate, Zachiera Wheeler 2nd in Novice Congressional Debate, Landri Renner 2nd in Expository Speaking, and Colin Raines was the champion in Novice Impromptu speaking. Congratulations to the entire team. They have competed in 2 tournaments and placed third in both - they are off to a great start!

Seniors (Fourth year high school students) have the opportunity to take or retake the “WIN Career Readiness Assessment”. This includes students who tested in the spring 2021, new students, and students who did not test in spring 2021. Eligible students will receive an invitation through backpack. The testing window is October 25 - 29.

Mauldin High School PTA is sponsoring the Reflections Arts Program "I Will Change The World By..." Here's your chance to share and get recognized for your creative talent! Enter the 2021-2022 PTA Reflections Arts Program by creating an original arts entry based on this year's theme, "I Will Change The World By...". Show your talents in one or all of these arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. Students may have unlimited entries! The entry deadline is Monday, November 22, 2021. Artists will be recognized at the school level and will have the opportunity to advance to the district, state and even the national rounds! All entries will be submitted online only (includes the entry form and all artwork for every category). The entry form link, how to enter and complete rules are included on the MHS PTSA website. Tutoring will be provided by Mauldin High School faculty members. This program is free to all Mauldin High School students. A student must sign up the day before the session. Multiple sessions may NO LONGER be selected using one form. A form must be submitted for each session. If you are unsure if you can attend a session, check the one you plan to attend and resubmit a different form for additional sessions. Tutoring sessions will be limited to the first fifteen students to register for each subject. Additional sessions will be created if tutors are available. Students who sign up for face to face tutoring need to attend their assigned tutor's classroom from 3:55 - 4:55 pm and need to provide their own transportation home.

Greenville County Schools will host four virtual Financial Aid workshops for parents each Thursday in October. Please refer to the flyer for more information and to receive each meeting's QR Code.
NHS will begin offering tutoring in the mornings before school. Tutoring will take place in the Media Center from 8:00 - 8:30. Students who wish to attend must submit a form to be matched with an appropriate tutor.

Please see attached information letter (English, Spanish) providing links for parents to access Rethink Ed content. This access will help parents to be fully informed about Social Emotional Learning (SEL) by seeing exact lessons. These are the lessons that will be shared during SEL advisory times. The access also allows parents to reinforce skills at home with their children. This letter will also be linked as "learn more" on the GCS page discussing Social Emotional Learning. Parents and students are encouraged to review the tentative Fall and Spring schedules for the 2021-22 school year. The schedules include quarter start and end dates, student grade report timelines, and exam and EOC dates. Attendance is critical as we shift to block schedule. One day missed on the block is equal to two days on the traditional schedule.
