GED Registration Options

No Full Paper/Pencil GED tests are available at the Sullivan Center on any date.

We still have a few partial test spots available for December 17th.

You may take the current test on the computer at Sullivan Center. The following is information about registering for the computer test but you cannot register for it at Sullivan Center.

COMPUTERIZED GED TESTING

  1. To sign-up for the computerized GED on using the internet go to www.gedcomputer.com.
  2. Click on the X to close the "You pass or we pay" window.
  3. If you have never taken any portion of the GED test on computer click on the REGISTER TODAY button. Continue to step #5
  4. If you have taken a portion of the GED test on computer click on the Log in to your account.
  5. Follow the online instructions and register for sections of GED test you need.
  6. Should you have questions about how to sign up call 1-877-EXAM-GED (1 877 392 6433)
  7. We are giving tests on Monday & Wednesday (1:30-4:00) & Friday (9:00-2:00) except on school breaks. The staff does not have access to the available slots during these dates & times. You can only find out what is available by logging into www.gedcomputer.com. Or calling 1 877 392 6433

If any additional paper/pencil tests are available they will be listed on the state website: www.ed.sc.gov. Once there you will do the following:

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

Registration may be done in person at the Greenville GED Testing Center, Sullivan Center, 206 Wilkins Street, Greenville, SC 29605

Monday -- Thursday – 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Complete steps below, print the completed forms, and bring them with your money order or cash.

  1. Go online at www.greenville.k12.sc.us/lifelong/testingcenter/index.asp
  2. Print out, complete, and sign the following to bring with you to the Greenville GED Testing Center, 206 Wilkins Street, Greenville, SC 29605:

PLEASE NOTE ONLY COMPLETED APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED, INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE MAILED BACK TO YOU. COMPLETED APPLICATIONS INCLUDE THE ITEMS LISTED ABOVE.

APPLICATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE TESTING DATE.

COMPUTERS ARE AVAILABLE TO REGISTER AT THE GREENVILLE GED TESTING CENTER, BUT THE PROCESS OF REGISTERING WILL GO MUCH FASTER IF YOU COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION FORMS BEFORE COMING TO THE TESTING CENTER TO REGISTER.

Mail-In Registration

  2. Print out, complete, and sign the following and mail to the Greenville GED Testing Center, 206 Wilkins Street, Greenville, SC 29605:
  3. Mail the registration application, Pre-GED Registration Form and Verification of Withdrawal form (if needed) with fees to Greenville GED Testing Center, Sullivan Center, 206 Wilkins Street, Greenville, SC 29605.

First Time Testers

A First Time Tester is defined as anyone that has not taken a GED Test in South Carolina since 2002.

17 or 18 year olds must have a Verification of Withdrawal form completed before registering for the GED (link for verification of withdrawal form and instructions for form for applicants under the age of 19)

Repeat Testers

Individuals who have taken the GED Test since 2002 and did not pass must:

  • Print, complete and sign the registration application (link to application)
  • Mail the registration application, with fees to Greenville GED Testing Center, Sullivan Center, 206 Wilkins Street, Greenville, SC 29605

South Carolina GED Test Requirements:

  • Must be at least 17 years old and withdrawn from high school
  • Must have valid South Carolina State Issued ID
  • Must read and sign the GED brochure (link for brochure)
  • Must read and sign the GED Candidate Conduct Policy (Link for Conduct Policy)

ALL SEATS ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED

ONLY COMPLETED APPLICATIONS WITH ALL NECESSARY FORMS COMPLETED, SIGNED AND APPROPRIATE FEE (MONEY ORDER OR CASH) WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Out of State Testers

If you are testing as a non-resident you MUST have a valid out of state ID

Special Accommodations

Individuals needing special accommodations must go to the link below:

Accommodations for Disability

and download the correct disability form.

All candidates that are applying for accommodations must send their applications to the state GED testing office. They will continue to approve paper/pencil accommodations, but computerized testing candidates' applications will be reviewed by the state GED testing office, and then forwarded to the national GED testing service for approval.

This process can take up to 30 days. Once you are approved you will be notified by email from the GED testing service.

Testing Fees

South Carolina Residents: Out-Of-State Residents:
$80.00 for full 5-test examination. $160.00 for full 5-test examination
$20.00 for each test if taking all five tests one at a time for the first time $40.00 for each test if taking all five tests one at a time for the first time
$16.00 for each separate retest $32.00 for each separate retest

Testing fees are not refundable.

Rescheduling and Retesting application must be completed at least 3 business days prior to the next test date. There will be an additional fee for rescheduling or retesting.

Confirmation of Your Testing Date

YOU ARE NOT CONFIRMED FOR A TESTING DATE UNTIL ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION IS RECEIVED AND PROCESSED IN OUR OFFICE. YOU WILL RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION NOTICE VIA US POSTAL MAIL. IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION NOTICE TWO (2) DAYS PRIOR TO THE TESTING EVENT, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT OUR OFFICE (864-355-6088).

Test Day Regulation

Arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to your scheduled testing time.

Park across the street from Sullivan Center.

Bring a valid picture identification (for SC residents: SC driver’s license or a South Carolina state issued identification card)

Bring your social security card or an official document with your social securitynumber on it.

Bring your copy of the confirmation notice indicating the date of testing.

REMEMBER: GED testing regulations now prohibit purses, tote bags, cell phones, book bags and similar items to be brought into the testing room. Please leave these items in your vehicle or at home.

Enter the front door and read the information that is running on the TV screens.

Checking Scores

When you have finished taking all the tests you are scheduled for, the examiners will give you an “Account Detail Sheet”. You will need this sheet to access you unofficial scores via the GED Wizard. Read this sheet carefully and put it in a safe place. Do the following to check your scores:

Step 1: Log onto the GED wizard web site.

Step 2: Type your name and email address on the left side of the screen. Logon using the same email address that you used to register for testing or use the following

Email address: Firstname.lastname.socialsecuritynumber@sc.non (SS # without the dashes)

Password: the password will be abcsocial security number

(If the above password doesn’t work add a . between abc and SS#)
