A Message from our PTA...
The Thomas E. Kerns Elementary PTA Board would like to take this opportunity to welcome you. We are looking forward to an exciting year. We are putting ideas into motion for PTA. We are committed to the challenge of making the PTA a success. Our number one priority is the children of Thomas E. Kerns Elementary.
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) was founded in 1897. Since its very beginning it has been and advocate for children. The PTA is not just about parents or teachers, it is about both working together to provide our children with the knowledge and the tools need to survive in society today. Local, state, and national PTA leaders represent the interest of children to lawmakers and other organization that make decisions affecting children.
The Mission of the PTA:
To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.
To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children.
To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
The Purpose of the PTA:
To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community and place of worship.
To raise the standards of home life.
To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
To bring into closer relation the home and the school that parents and teachers my cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
You can help by becoming a member. Memberships are $4.00. We encourage you to become active in our school PTA and become involved in your child's education. The money, from the membership dues is used to promote programs that benefit our children at local, state, and national levels. Become a business partner: Gold Partner $100.00; Silver Partner $75.00; Bronze Partner $50.00.
