Welcome Ms. Kippes

Two weeks ago the halls of Hughes Academy welcomed a brand new teacher. Her name is Ms. Kippes, and she might just be teaching your student in their Gateway to Technology class.  She’s excited to start the new year and get to know everyone!

Ms. Kippes grew up in Jacksonville, Florida,  where she later got a full scholarship to Jacksonville University, majoring in environmental science. Once finishing up at JU, she went to different camps along the coast teaching environmental science. After a few years teaching the camps, she realized that she loved teaching and getting to know the students, which motivated her to get her teaching certificate at North Florida University. Afterwards, she took the online course at Florida State University and got her master’s degree in secondary science.

Ms. Kippes has no lack of experience when it comes to teaching a classroom.  However, it hasn’t been in GTT. Prior to her new job at Hughes, she taught sixth grade science at Greenville Middle.  Ms. Kippes teaches because she loves “seeing that ‘ah ha’ moment where the student finally gets the concept.” Along with that, Ms. Kippes says that she likes to meet the students and get to know them.  Her hopes for her future students are that they will take what they learn in her class and consider it when picking their careers.

A new year brings new excitement and Ms. Kippes is looking forward to it!
