Patti Jansen, Media Specialist
pjansen@greenville.k12.sc.us

My father was a pilot for United Airlines and we moved every two years while I was growing up. My family alternated living in Virginia and Florida, and then we returned to Western North Carolina when I started high school. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in communications and social psychology. I worked in public relations and computer programming before earning a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina. Both UNC-CH and USC were very good to me and my oldest son graduated from Clemson, so my bases are covered. I am a BIG fan of North Carolina basketball and go crazy when the Tarheels play! Go Heels!

This is my fourteenth year as the Media Specialist at Hughes Academy. I have fond memories of my middle school teachers and I am thrilled to be at Hughes. I enjoy assisting the faculty and staff, and I love to get our students excited about reading! I am married, and have two sons and two silly dogs. My oldest son Kyle is getting married in November. He is a consultant for IBM and lives in Charlotte. My younger son Kevin is a certified paramedic in Spartanburg County. He and his wife, who is also a paramedic, are going back to school to get their nursing degrees. Between them they have five children, so there is never a dull moment!
