eLearning: We're All in This TOGETHER!
eLearning: Social & Emotional Support
To help you and your student(s) with e-learning, our staff has implemented the following practices:
-Each day, a Google Slide with assignments will be posted in Google Classroom. Resources (videos, documents, etc.) will be hyperlinked or embedded within the Google Slide.
-Assignments in the Google Slide are listed using the 5E Model (engage, explore, explain, elaborate, evaluate). This includes a checklist to help students with staying organized.
***Students should spend approximately 25-40 minutes for ach class period. Some students will finish in less time, and others may need more time. If students are struggling with understanding heir assignments, they can make a comment on Google Classroom, email the teacher, and/or attend the daily Google Meet to ask questions. Remember, we are here to help you and your student!
Below are additional resources to help your student(s) during this time.
Downloading Assignments & Working Offline (without Internet)-All district schools have WiFi access in the parking lot near the building all day between 7am and 7pm. There is no need to go to a specific school--just go to the GCS building that is most convenient for you. Students needing Internet can also connect between 10am-noon at any of the meal delivery sites listed on our website at www.greenville.k12.sc.us. Though Internet access is needed to download or turn in electronic assignments, once those are downloaded, students can work on the material offline.
Directions for Getting Materials While Connected to WiFi-While away from Wifi, DO NOT CLOSE ANY TABS UNTIL YOU ARE FINISHED AND RECONNECTED TO THE INTERNET and progress has been saved. Otherwise, you could lose all of your work.
Connect to the Internet (GCS)
Go to each teacher's Google Classroom
Open each individual teacher's virtual Google Slide
Make sure all documents are completely loaded and open.
Once you leave, you will be able to view, type, and edit documents that you previously opened. You will not be able to open any links once you leave WiFi range.
By 8:30am, check Google Classroom for your Daily Assignments for each teacher
Work on each class for approximately 25-40 mins. Review all information and watch all videos on each Google Slide.
Attend Google Meets with your teachers each day (see the schedule below). This a good time to ask questions and get help with your assignments.
Contact your teachers through email or Google Classroom. Be specific about what you are struggling with. For example, rather than posting, "I don't understand" try posting, "I don't understand how to solve for the area of a triangle."
If you get frustrated, stop and come back to it later.
Find a friend in your class who is doing well and ask for help.
