Welcome to the Principal's Page!
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! We hope you had a relaxing summer and are ready to begin an exciting school year filled with many activities and opportunities for learning. Our third year was a huge success because of the teamwork and leadership from our school staff, parents, students, and community members. During our fourth year, we will continue to work together to enhance our teaching and learning environment where diversity is celebrated and academic achievement for every student is paramount.
As an extension to last year’s school theme, we will use “Wild About Learning – It’s a Jungle Out There” as this year’s theme. Our school staff and PTA have been planning monthly activities around our theme to make our school an exciting place to work and learn. We will use the “Survivor” theme for our PTA membership drive during September! PTA has also planned several fundraising events to secure money for classroom materials and a kindergarten playground. They also coordinate our school volunteer program with various opportunities for involvement such as the SEEDS program, Sunshine Math, room parent, field trip chaperone, classroom helper, and many, many more. We hope you will find ways to be involved with our school this year.
Rudolph Gordon Elementary is a Baldridge School for Quality Learning, and your child will be tracking his or her progress this year through Data Notebooks. Other school initiatives your child will experience include Everyday Counts Math, Learning-Focused teaching strategies, Compass Learning computer assisted instruction, Four Blocks Literacy Method, and Accelerated Reader. Parents will be able to access their child’s grades from a home computer again this year so they can better assist teachers in making this a successful year for their child.
You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, tour the school, ask questions, sign up for volunteer opportunities, and join PTA on August 15 from 4:30 until 6:30 pm. We look forward to working with you throughout the year to make this a successful year for all of our students. See you in August!
