Laying the Foundation for Future Success!

What a wonderful fall it has been; it is so exciting to see how much your children have already grown and developed since August.  Each day our centers are buzzing with your children busy learning letters, colors, numbers, how to play with their friends and many other important academic and life skills.

This month I would like to highlight Palmetto Basic #2: Talk, Sing & Point.  As children encounter their environment, they are very curious and learn a lot by observing and listening to those around them.  One way to enhance their development is to practice the strategy of talk, sing & point. Our children learn that words have meaning by listening to us, so talking and singing is a very effective way to increase your child’s language development.  Taking the time to point out new things to your child, talking about them, and answering your child’s questions is a worthwhile activity that can easily be done anywhere and anytime.

I also am excited to announce that we have scheduled several Holiday Coffees, one at each of our Child Development Centers to be able to open our doors to you, share The Palmetto Basics and spend some time answering any questions you may have for us.  At 8am on the following days, the Assistant Principal and I will be hosting a Holiday Coffee at the designated location and we look forward to meeting with those of you that are available to join us at that time and share some coffee and treats as well.

·         Wednesday, November 28 at Greenview CDC at 8am

·         Thursday, November 29 at Riley CDC at 8am

·         Monday, December 3 at Dunbar CDC at 8am

·         Thursday, December 6 at NW Crescent CDC at 8am

·         Wednesday, December 19 at Golden Strip CDC at 8am

·         Thursday, December 20 at Overbrook CDC at 8am

A center specific announcement and RSVP tear off sheet will be coming home with your child in the next few weeks to help remind you and for you to let us know if you can make it.  This will help us to ensure we have enough coffee and muffins for all.

Sincerely,

Amanda Lecaroz
