Third, fourth and fifth grade students visit the library every other week for book check out. Kindergarten and first grade students may check out 1 library book at a time. Second grade students may check out 2 library books at a time.  Third, Fourth, and fifth grade students may check out 3 books at a time.

Book Fair

The Bethel Library Media Center hosts a fall and spring book fair each year.  Reading is very important at Bethel and we like to give families a chance to add to their home libraries.  Our Fall Book Fair is scheduled for November 12-16, 2018 and our Spring Book Fair is scheduled for April 8-12, 2019.

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a program 4th and 5th grade students at Bethel can participate in. Every year South Carolina picks 20 top picture, children's, junior and young adult and books that have not yet won awards but are nominated at a top book to read. Students all over South Carolina vote in February on these books and the winner is announced in March. Of these 20 books, 10 are chosen by the district for students to read. In December-March, students choosing to participate in this program will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in teams to answer questions about these books. A few weeks before the district competition, a school competition is held and the winning team will go on to the district competition in March.

School Wide Reading Incentive

Every year Bethel students have a school wide reading incentive.  Students are encouraged to read at least 15 minutes per night. Prizes will be awarded to students each 9 weeks.
