Mr. Glenn McAtee, 8th Grade Administrative Assistant
Mr. McAtee is brand new to Beck, starting in January 2023. He comes to us from JL Mann High School where he spent almost 12 years. McAtee's first 6 years at Mann were spent teaching PE (Weights 1 and 2, Adapted PE and PE 1) and his final 5 years were spent teaching in the Social Studies Department (World Geography, Human Geography, and Modern World History).
While at Mann, McAtee coached Boys Cross Country and Boys Track and Field for 10 years. He also served as the Assistant Athletics Director, Secretary of the School Improvement Council and helped to run the Afterschool tutoring program.
McAtee has an Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology and Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University (Canada), a Master of Arts in Teaching Physical Education from University of South Carolina and an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson University. McAtee also trained as a welder and has a degree in Welding Fabrication from Tri-County Technical College.
Prior to starting in K12 education, McAtee spent 10 years at the University level, first teaching Exercise Science and coaching track and field at Cal State Northridge in Los Angeles and later coaching track and field at Clemson.
Mr. McAtee commutes every day from his home in Clemson that he shares with his wife of 25 years, Mandy, who teaches 3rd grade at Clemson Elementary. The McAtees have two daughters: Caroline (22) who is a Law Student at USC and Claire (19) who is a Wildlife Biology/Journalism double major at University of Montana. The rest of the family includes Jasper and Birdie who are Lab mixes and Cricket, who is a cat.
