State Swim Championships

The Eastside Eagles Swim Team swept through the Class AAAA State Championships.  The Eagles boys team cruised to their third straight title with 497.5 points, 119 points clear of second place!  The girls team narrowly claimed their first title with 384 points, a slim 17 points more than South Aiken.  Riley Parker won three individual gold medals, finishing 1st in the 200 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke and swimming the lead leg of the Girls 200 Medley Relay.  Kirkley Norwood, Cara Bognar and Casey Harrison joined Parker on the relay winning team.  Joseph Brooks won the Boys 200 IM for an individual gold as well.  Eastside's depth proved to be the key as the Eagles won 33 event medals, set 10 school records and placed 15 swimmers on the AAAA All-State team!

Anna Havans Rice of Greenville brought home three individual 1st place finishes as she helped power the Red Raiders girls team to a 4th place overall finish.  Havans Rice won the 200 IM, 100 Breaststroke and swam the first leg of the 400 Free Relay with Virginia McNair, Sydney Richmond and Isabella Hall.

In Class AAAAA, Riverside reign atop the swim world came to an end as the boys and girls teams finished runners-up to Wando.  Brandon Meier (50 Free/200 Free Relay) and Michael Juengel (100 Backstroke/200 Free Relay) each earned a pair of 1st place finishes for the Warriors.  Kai Van den Bosch and Jake Prewette swam the middle legs on the winning 200 Free Relay team to earn gold as well.  Hannah Ownbey won the Girls 200 Individual Medley and Emily Horomanski added a gold placing 1st in the 100 Butterfly.

JL Mann and Mauldin each finished with top 10 team finishes.  Mauldin placed 6th in girls and 9th in boys.  Mann finished 8th in boys and 9th in girls.
