Two Big XC Meets On Saturday

Hillcrest XC claimed the Varsity Boys and Girls titles at the 2017 GTC Tiger Classic held at Southside High.  The Rams girls team placed five runners in the top 20, 9th grader Camille Egbula leading the way with a 5th place finish.  Lindy Kavulic placed 7th and Kelsey Hawkins 10th.  Raven Stewart from host Southside was the top Tigers runner placing 16th overall.  The Tigers finished 7th as a team and JL Mann girls placed 4th .

In the boys race, the Rams Lucas Conti placed 2nd overall and teammates Jacob Nelson (6th) and Jacob Gordon (8th) both finished top 10 as the Rams edged out West Henderson for the team title.  Dan Whitten paced host Southside with a top 10 finish and the Tigers placed 6th in team standings.

In the JV race, the Hillcrest boys held off Mann and Southside to finish 1st.  JL Mann took 1st in the girls race.

Down at Chapin, Riverside was once again dominant at the 2017 Mike Moore Lake Murray Classic.  Riverside girls placed 2, 4, 5 and 8 as the Warriors scored 47 points, runner-up Hilton Head totaled 124 points.  Jessi Crowley finished 2nd overall followed closely by Carter Marchbanks (4th), Katherine Rogers (5th) and Laura Macgregor (8th).  Mauldin (3rd), JL Mann (4th), Wade Hampton (7th) and Eastside (9th) all finished with top 10 team finishes in a field of 46 teams.  Morgan Moseley of Mann placed top 10 with a 7th place finish.

Five Riverside boys placed in top 50 to secure the win for the Warriors.  Andrew Castano placed 4th overall and Harper Harris 10th.  Noah White placed 3rd overall and lead Eastside to a 3rd place finish behind Riverside and Lexington.  Blue Ridge grabbed a top 10 finish, 7th overall.  Coen Roberts from Greer placed 5th overall.

In the JV race, the Riverside girls went 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11 to win easily.  8th grader Keller Johnson lead the way finishing 2nd to Greenville's Janie Schmitt.  Greenville finished 3rd.  In the JV Boys Elite race, Rune Ledoux finished 3rd and led the Warriors team to another victory.  Riverside went 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 in the race.  Eastside placed 3rd overall and Spain Vaughn ran a 17:34 to place 2nd in the race.
