Week 2 Preview - High School Football

Hurricane Harvey has made its way to the Upstate and the rains it brings will impact Week 2 high school football action.  Wade Hampton at Woodmont and Blue Ridge at Riverside have moved their games from Friday night to Thursday to try and avoid some of the saturation.  Wade Hampton and Woodmont are both looking for their first W's of this young season.  Riverside and Blue Ridge both enter at 1-1.

On friday, weather permitting, Greenville (1-1) will host Carolina (0-1) in their home opener.  The Raiders will need their ground game to have the same success it had last week where Danayus Williams-Byrd rushed for 142 yards and 4 scores, especially if weather limits the Greenville passing game.  Greer (1-1) looks to rebound from a bad week vs Byrnes as they head to Clinton (0-1) to face the Red Devils.  Both teams bring strong rushing attacks to what is sure to be wet filed conditions.  Hillcrest got a big win week 1 over rival Mauldin despite 6 turnovers.  The Rams will need to protect the ball better as they host the Dorman Cavaliers (0-2).  Meanwhile, Mauldin (0-1) travels up 276 to face JL Mann (1-1).  Our final match-up features Travelers Rest hosting Walhalla.  The Devildogs will look to get their first win of the season.
