High School Football - Week 1 Preview

Week 1 of the football season features several rivalry games and a full slate of action for Greenville County Schools. The first rivalry game features Southside at Carolina High School on Thursday night. The Trojans look to continue rebuilding under Coach Derrick Sullivan, while the Tigers of Southside led by Coach Julius Prince hope to improve off last season’s young team.

In one of the biggest games of the early season, Byrnes, fresh off its dismantling of Myrtle Beach, travels to Greer, who established themselves once again as a 4A power with a convincing win at Westside last week. Expect plenty of high powered offense at this game as athletes abound on both sides.

Games featuring in county rivals include Greenville at Wade Hampton, Eastside at Riverside, Travelers Rest at Berea, and the counties two largest schools square off as Hillcrest goes to Mauldin. All four of these games are entertaining and are full of great energy by fans and teams alike.

Other games Friday include Landrum at Blue Ridge, Irmo at JL Mann and Woodmont travels to Palmetto.
