How Will Students Be Graded? (¿Cómo serán calificados los estudiantes?)
Google Classroom for Parents
Google Classroom is your child’s online link to learning. Find out how parents can get emails from their child’s teachers with assignments and other class activities. This video is closed captioned in Spanish. Remember, if your student is having trouble with their Chromebook, you can call our Help Desk at 355-4357.
Backpack for Parents
eLearning Begins Wednesday, March 18
Students without access to the internet may call the teacher work phone during the teacher’s regular class schedule.
Teachers have their regular class schedule and contact information, including email address and classroom phone number, posted on the front page of their website.
Students will need to complete all assignments. If the student does not have internet access, all work will be due within five days of returning to school.
Google Classroom is a streamlined, easy-to-use tool that helps teachers manage coursework. With Classroom, educators can create classes, distribute assignments, grade and send feedback, and see everything in one place.
For students in grades 3-8, lesson materials will be posted to Google Classrooms for students to complete.
Students in grades 9-12 will use Google Classroom or Echo. If high school students are unable to access the internet they should contact their school to make arrangements for materials.
Teachers will respond to questions through their Google Classroom or directly to a student through the student email during their regular class schedule.
eLearning With Chromebooks
If students have School District Chromebooks at home with connectivity, they should access their assignments. Please see Google Classroom and the teacher webpages. Students access Google Classroom via Student Backpack. If students need help accessing Google Classroom, please see the following directions.
Teachers are creating most assignments so students can access them on Chromebooks while offline.
ePackets can be downloaded for grades 3-8 for students without access to the internet.
ETV At-Home Learning
Beginning Tuesday, March 24, SCETV will modify regularly scheduled programming for three days each week to offer specific pre-K – 12 resources between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
eLearning without Chromebooks
Students in PreK-2nd grade do not have District-issued Chromebooks. As a result, these students will have downloadable materials available on their teacher’s website. Printed materials are only needed if a family has no internet access via WiFi or phone. Packets will be available at feeding sites through the week of April 27. Choice Boards do not need to be printed. In fact, they were developed in an effort to eliminate the exchange of papers between schools and families. They are available in print at the feeding sites to meet the needs of families without any type of internet access. These boards are set up with age appropriate activities that help students learn and master grade-level standards. Teachers are expected to check in with students and families to offer support and discuss the activities. Students will receive a participation grade based on these conversations, whether they take place over the phone, email, video conferencing, or another platform used by the teacher. Students will not be expected to turn in this work, so the drawings, words, and sentence practice can be completed on scratch paper.
