Criteria and Awards Information
Criteria
The baseline for each school will be their consumption during the 2013-2014 school year. Each school’s KBTU energy consumption will be compared to their own KBTU energy consumption for the same time period, during the 2013-2014 school year. The school with the largest percentage of KBTU energy savings will win the prize.
Awards
- Energy to Start the Day - Each calendar month the school with the largest percentage of KBTU energy savings at each level (high, middle, elementary, center) will be awarded breakfast for all faculty and staff.
- Lights Out Luncheon - Each nine weeks, the school with the largest percentage of KBTU energy savings at each level (high, middle, elementary, center) will be awarded a catered lunch for all faculty and staff. - Dynamite Dinner - Schools who win 3 or more awards during a calendar year will have the opportunity to trade some of their meals for a catered steak dinner.
- Kilowatt Cash - Each year, the school with the largest percentage of KBTU energy savings at each level will be awarded a cash prize.
Prize money can be used at the principal’s discretion, added to any of the winning school’s budgets.
