Mrs. Lynda Leventis-Wells is retired as Executive Director for the Carolinas Institute for Community Policing. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of South Carolina, and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Educational Psychology from the University of Mississippi. She formerly served as women’s basketball coach for Furman University, J. L. Mann High Academy, and Wade Hampton High School and soccer at J. L. Mann Academy.
Honors and activities include President of the Board of Crime Stoppers and Capital Campaign Chairman and Board Member for the Cancer Survivor’s Park. She is also President of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral Parish Council, Chair of the Greek Festival, Vice President of the Jefferson Awards Foundation Students in Action, and Advisory Council for the MedEX Academy-HBCU Medical School Pipleline with GHS.
Mrs. Leventis-Wells received the Order of Palmetto (2012), inducted into the Wade Hampton High School Legion of Honor (2011), Southeastern Crime Stopper’s Citizen of the Year (2004), Greenville County Sheriff’s Citizen Award (2004), Who’s Who Among American Teachers (2002, 2004, 2005), Honor Award for Distinguish Achievement in Public Service from the American Police Hall of Fame (2000), Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Drug Law Enforcement from the Drug Enforcement Administration (2000), Greenville Technical College Educator of the Year (1997-1998) and Peach Blossom Coach of the Year (1996) .
She is married to Alan Wells. They have two children, Katrina, a graduate of Coastal Carolina University, and Jonathan, a graduate of the University of South Carolina who is currently attending dental school at Georgia University in Augusta.
