Brenda Byrd received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson University, and she has 26 years of experience as an educator in South Carolina. She has experience as both a teacher and administrator at the elementary and middle school levels, and currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership. Under Mrs. Byrd’s leadership, Bethel Elementary consistently received a rating of Excellent on the School Report Card, and the school received the prestigious Palmetto’s Finest Award in 2011. Mrs. Byrd was recognized as the Greenville County Schools Administrator of the Year in 2013 and the South Carolina Elementary Principal of the Year in 2014. She will be recognized as a National Distinguished Principal on October 17, 2014 in Washington, D.C.
