Teri S. Brinkman, Executive Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement
Mrs. Teri Brinkman joined Greenville County Schools in 2006 as the Board Liaison/Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, where she assisted the superintendent with special projects, communications, and problem-solving efforts. She also served as the communications link between the administration, Board of Trustees (school board), and community, and was responsible for managing information provided to the Trustees at monthly Committee of the Whole and Board meetings. Since assuming the role of Executive Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement in 2016, Brinkman has overseen all internal and external messaging, processes all Freedom of Information Act responses, and facilitated the creation of the Blueprint 2023 GCS Strategic Plan. Additionally the Communications and Engagement Department is in charge of employee and student recognition events and programs, the GCS Hall of Fame archive and programming, Teacher of the Year selection and recognition process, PTA and SIC collaboration, media relations, social media content, community engagement, and the development of business partnerships. Brinkman holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Mississippi State University and a bachelor's in music from Furman University. Brinkman’s past professional experience includes writing for the Starkville (Miss.) Daily News and 16 years in athletic media relations, where she provided color commentary for TV and radio broadcasts and worked multiple NCAA Championship events.
