Woodland Elementary Faculty

Woodland Elementary is led by the principal, Wanda G. Mote, who is in her
twelfth year guiding the school. She is assisted by LeKeisha Brown and Charles
Davis, our assistant principals.
Teachers at Woodland Elementary School try to keep abreast of the latest methods
of delivering instruction. We have taken advantage of staff development
opportunities that are offered in the district and through nearby universities,
in addition to attending conferences. We recognize that students learn in
different ways. Teachers are encouraged to try a variety of instructional
strategies to address the different learning styles of students. Our highest
priority is implementing the strategies related to our vision: “Where children
come first and excellence is the way of life.”
At each grade
level, teachers are encouraged to work together as a team. We also work across
grade levels to ensure a continuum of learning that makes sense for the
students. These teams are set up to make sure every teacher is teaching to the
standards and that each is clear on what we want our students to know and do. As
the importance of vertical teaming is realized, our plans are to include more of
these team sessions. We have utilized vertical teaming by forming subject area
committees that will meet to discuss various ways to improve our instruction
throughout the school.
We will continue our commitment of analyzing all types of data that impact
student achievement. With the increased amount of data available to us, we are
striving to ensure that each child is directed toward reaching his/her full
potential.
Woodland Elementary is committed to helping each child succeed.
“Where children come first and excellence is the way of
life.”
