Districts are required to provide services for all gifted and talented students at both the elementary and secondary levels. Students are identified for these programs by demonstrating high performance ability or potential in academic and/or artistic areas.
In accordance with State Board of Education Regulation 43-220, the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) provides both an aptitude assessment (CogAT) and an achievement assessment (IOWA) for this purpose. While the primary goal of these assessments is to identify students for Gifted and Talented programs, the results also offer valuable information for teachers as they reflect on instructional practices and develop strategies to support all learners.
Testing Schedule:
· CogAT: October 7–8
· IOWA: October 9–10
· Time: Approximately 8:30a.m. each day
Parents can support their children by ensuring they arrive on time, are well-rested, and have a healthy breakfast each morning.

Electronic Parent Notes
Our school is excited to offer electronic parent notes as an option to communicate with the school on the days your student is absent. This may be a good option for you if you often forget to send in a sick note, or if your child loses parent notes easily. Please go to the following link and fill out the information whenever your child is absent from school. Due to a change in attendance policy this year, parent notes are only accepted during the first 10 absences of the school year, and must be turned in within 3 days of the student returning to school. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Meghan Shroy at 864-355-3943.
Thank you!
