Greenville County Hospital School

Why have school in the hospital?

The purpose is twofold:
· To provide continuity in normal experiences
· To continue the educational process

School emphasizes the healthy part of a child’s life during hospitalization and conveys to patients that they can expect to return to normal events.

The school program helps patients complete schoolwork so that they do not experience “double jeopardy”—the misfortune of being hospitalized and, at the same time, falling behind in school.

In addition to providing formal schooling, the program offers educational support and enrichment activities to patients that foster learning.
