A multi-subject college rule spiral notebook w/ pockets for handouts or a 3-ring binder w/ additional pockets, dividers, and college rule paper. 5. A Spanish-English Dictionary (examples of quality will be shown) B. COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. Speak Spanish well enough to describe, narrate, ask and answer questions in the present in the present about everyday topics such as exchanging greetings, making introductions, exchanging information about classes and daily routines, describing oneself and one's interests, expressing likes and dislikes, describing family relationships, extending invitations, and talking about the weather; talk in simple terms about things you and others did in the past. 2. Comprehend the Spanish language with sufficient ability to grasp the main idea of short conversations that represent authentic situations through the use of taped or teacher-read material. 3. Read and Comprehend the main idea and some details of both edited and non- edited material, if highly contextualized. 4. Write sentences and paragraphs in Spanish on familiar topics and practical needs. 5. Understand that basic cultural differences do exist and that learning a language enables a person to better appreciate and interact with said culture. C. EVALUATION PROCEDURE The grade for this course is determined according to the following factors: 1. Daily Class Grade (attendance & participation) 2. Quizzes 3. Written (homework, compositions, projects) 4. Lab activities 5. Chapter tests, Unit tests 6. Mid-term exam, Final exam D. CLASSROOM RULES 1. Show respect for others at all times. 2. Be punctual. Be in your seat when the bell rings. 3. Be prepared. Have your homework and materials. 4. Do not bring food, drink or gum into the classroomf. 5. Remain seated until dismissed by the teacher with “Adios”. E. SUCCESSFUL LEARNING STRATEGIES 1. In order to prepare for class, the student should study the assigned material as directed by the teacher on the assignment page before coming to class. 2.
