GE Program Information and Tips for Parents What Southside and GE Can Do to Help Students and Parents Goal: To provide assistance to help all students to pass to the next grade; to provide the information, resources, schedule, skills, and help they need to graduate in 4 years; and to encourage and prepare them to enter college after graduation with the potential to succeed. 2006 2007 School Year GE Staff and contact information: GE College Bound Program Coordinator Debbie Tate (dtate@greenville.k12.sc.us), phone 864-355-8716 GE College Bound Program Aide Carol Fisher (cafisher@greenville.k12.sc.us), phone 864-355-8757 We are available in our office near the cafeteria for easy access to help students and/or parents develop a plan for high school graduation and assist students with information regarding career/college research/application. We are here to help you. Parents making a special trip to the school to see us may want to call for an appointment to assure we are not in another meeting. However, you may just stop by, look in our window, and drop in for a chat. Resources Available: GE Tutors Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in the media center - GE tutors are available to help students with homework or academic problems especially in math, science and foreign languages. US News Best Colleges Books take a copy as long as they last Books with information on colleges around the country come and use them Southside Data helpful with grant writing for parent groups or faculty GE Website information about the GE Programs and helpful links for: o Scholarship help o Study guide tips in multiple languages o Assignment calculator help organize your time working on big projects o Course specific study guides Technology Resources Available: GE Computer Lab with adult supervision open every day before school and after school Monday Thursday for students to use to work on homework or use any of our tutorial software programs not for playing games and music. HSAP Online, Passkey, Larsons Prealgebra/Algebra, and Criterion Writing software available to improve skills and performance in the classroom (math, English, science, and social studies) and for preparation for State testing.
