New this year is "The Keyboard of Happiness". "The Keyboard of Death" will still be available for those who can take it. In reality they both serve the same purpose, to cover the keyboard for the student's speed test. Students will still have to type at least 25 wpm with 95% accuracy or better to pass the test.

Today, Omar Aguilar takes the lead in the sixth grade with a time of 40 wpm. More sixth graders are passing the KOD/H. The leaders in each grade are: sixth grade (Omar Aguilar, 40), seventh grade (Hope McJunkin, 60), and in the eighth grade (Justin Hart, 78).

Remember Perfect Practice Makes Perfect. See the complete list of students who beat the Keyboard of Death by clicking on Students.
Wil Vauhgn wins genuine faux $1,000,000 bill.  Susannah Meyers wins genuine faux $1,000,000 bill.
Wil Vaughn is the first sixth grader to beat the KOD/H this year. He wins a genuine faux one-million dollar bill. Congratulations Wil. One day later, the first sixth grade girl beat the KOD/H. It was Sussanah Meyers (28 wpm). Congratulations, Sussannah. Way to go.

The Gum Jar has been around for many years to help remind students of our no gum policy at Northwest. The inscription is a poem that is unattributed.
This is no bull!
ON CHEWING

The gum-chewing student
And the cud-chewing cow
Look quite alike,
But they're different somehow.
And what is the difference?
I see it all now ---
It's the intelligent look
On the face of the cow.
