Meet Mrs. Cloer

Hello! My name is Georgia Cloer. I taught first grade at Mitchell Road Elementary School in Greenville, SC. My family is very important to me. My husband and I have two children and three grandchildren. We love them and enjoy being with them as much as we possibly can. Sadie is part of our family also. She is a six year old white Shih Tzu. She is hyperactive, but seems to be calming down as she gets older!

We go to all the Clemson home football and basketball games. We like sports! We like to go to Lake Keowee in warm weather. My husband likes to water ski. I like to drive the boat when he skis. I like to ride in the boat when he drives. I really like to ride the jet ski. It is fun. I would rather ride it when the water is smooth and few boats are churning it up.

I taught at Mitchell Road for twenty two years. I taught fifth grade for six years, fourth for one, and taught first grade for fifteen years. I love to teach students how to read. I love to see their faces as they learn how to sound out a word or tell what a story is about. I love to read stories that first graders write. They are great authors.

I graduated from Furman University with my BA in Elementary Education and my MA in reading. I have my Plus 30 hours in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach elementary school as well as reading.

I loved teaching first graders who work and play with much enthusiasm. We had a wonderful time as we celebrated our learning each and every day. Coming to school everyday was exciting. If I were not retired, I could not think of anything else I would rather do than teach first grade at Mitchell Road.

Using technology is one of my favorite hobbies. I was part of our technology team at Mitchell Road. Using digital cameras, scanners, software, and printers, as well as computers added even more excitement to our class experiences. Now, I am serving as a trainer for Instructional Technology in the school district. It is a rewarding experience teaching other teachers how to use technology for instruction in the classroom.
