Shop til You Drop at Little Steps

On December 8, 2009 students from Teen Parent ventured off to the Little Steps Store. When Mandy Black invited us to come to the store we weren’t quite expecting the cold and rain that we received, or the amount of stuff that the small store held. The store had everything; clothing, hats, shoes, and diapers. There were even pacifiers, bottles, formula, blankets, and maternity clothing for mom.
Little Steps is an organization founded to support young mothers and and help them become responsible, healthy, and confident mothers and adults. Students have been participating in a Little Steps class held at Teen Parent since the first quarter. They have learned some pretty interesting facts about pregnancy, children, and parenting. Mandy wasn’t kidding when she said “You can Earn While You Learn.” |

Kohl's Cares
When something needs to be done, you send your best. That is exactly what Kohl's in Simpsonville, SC did for Teen Parent. They sent a group of five volunteers, known as the A-Team, to help at our school. They assisted Mrs. Payne and the teachers by making copies, assembling student packets and notebooks, helping organize emergency evacuation packets and various other tasks. Their behind-the-scenes efforts made a huge difference in the every day operations of our school. Kohl's supported the team's volunteering with a grant given directly to Teen Parent. Thank you Kohl's Simpsonville A-Team!
