Miss Grinstead has
been selected by the faculty and staff as Sue Cleveland’s Teacher of the Year.
She is one of the fifth grade teachers at our school and lovingly calls her
class: Grinstead’s Gorillas.
This fifth grade
teacher is in her eighteenth year of teaching, five of which have been at Sue
Cleveland. She has taught both fifth and sixth grades. She completed her BA in
elementary education from Bob Jones University and then earned a master’s degree
in the area of special education.
Miss Grinstead has
four sisters, of which she is the youngest. Currently, she has five nieces and
one nephew and likes to take them shopping and to amusement parks. “I love the
roller coasters best,” she says. “One time, I lost my glasses while on a roller
coaster, but luckily someone found them. I thought I would be in so much
trouble!” Family is important to Miss Grinstead and she spends most of her free
time with them.
As Teacher of the
Year, Miss Grinstead was honored at a special luncheon given in appreciation of
all Greenville County Teachers of the Year for 2010, had her picture taken for
the Greenville News and gets to park in a special reserved space in front
of the school building.
“I love school!”
quoted Miss Grinstead. “I have been in school for a very long time: first as
the student, and then as a teacher. I don’t think I will ever leave! I get
so excited over the summer—I can’t wait to get back to school and meet my
new students!”
Congratulations to
our 2010-2011 Teacher of the Year!
