Meet the Teacher
At this annual event, students and parents
may come to school shortly before the school year begins to
find out who their teacher is, and to visit the classroom
for an introduction to the coming year. The PTA shares
information packets, and sponsors car pool sign ups.
Parents may purchase items, such as the PTA School Year
Calendar, vintage Stone t-shirts, magnets and stickers.
You can also check out Stone Student art and poetry cards
and Stone Staff Trading Cards. Refreshments are served.

Red Ribbon Parade/Rally
High School Bands, Cheerleaders,
and local celebrities join Stone students and staff in
saying a resounding "NO" to Drug abuse during Red Ribbon
Week each year in October.In 2010-11,
Stone will sponsor a Red Ribbon Rally, rather than a parade,
due to the cost of hiring off duty police officers for
traffic control. |

Science Fun Day
Students enjoy science activities
and displays from molecules to hedgehogs.

Special Friends Luncheon
Kindergarten through fifth grade students
are encouraged to invite grandparents, and other "special"
friends or relatives to have lunch with them. This
coincides with the Fall Book Fair, and the cafeteria staff
always make a wonderful meal to share with the students' guests.
Guests are also welcome to browse the Book Fair after lunch.

PTA Skate Night
Get out there and ROLL! Skate
night comes but once a year, and it'd be a trajedy to miss
out. Catch up on your homework, and have a blast at
Taylors Roller Sports.

Battle of
the Books
Alice Littlejohn, Stone's
Media Specialist, began Stone's participation in this annual
competition. A Friday Club, Battle of the Books
participants read ten books, and do practice "battles"
weekly, answering detailed questions about events that take
place in those books. If you're in 4th or 5th grade,
and are quick witted, and LOVE to read, this would be a
great club choice for you.

Kindergarten Graduation
Here's an event to pull at the heart strings,
as the kindergarteners say "Goodbye" to their friends and to
their kindergarten year. Each class has their own
graduation ceremony and performance.

5th Grade Day
Stone's "seniors" get a day to celebrate,
with awards, skating or bowling, yearbook signing, and a
special fun lunch.

Book Fairs
The Media Center hosts fall
and spring book fairs. The PTA and Media Specialist team
up to run the fair. Parents, grandparents, and others are
welcome to attend. There are usually after school hours
and often special activities planned. Proceeds from the
book fairs are used to expand the library collection. |

100th Day Celebration
First graders celebrate
the 100th day of school with math counting activities.
They often dress up or bring in 100 of something to
illutstrate the concept. |

Barrier Island Fifth Grade Trip
Fifth graders visit Barrier
Island each year, over a three day period. They are
engaged in learning activities that make use of their
surroundings. And, there's a famous mud pit. The trip is
one of the highlights of the fifth grade year at Stone. |

Camp
Thunderbird Fourth Grade Trip
Fourth graders spend two days at Camp
Thunderbird, near Rock Hill, each year. They
experience life as early Americans, and participate in
physical activities such as a zip line. |

Third Grade State Capital Trip
Each year the third grade
takes a day-long field trip to Columbia, as part of their study
of South Carolina. |
