Arts Integration

a 4th grade student presents her "Explorer" report, in costume and showing her "parchment" diary

Core courses are taught utilizing the arts. Puppet shows, skits, songs, writing, and visual arts are used in teaching.
Above, a fourth grade student shows the puppets he made for an enactment of a classic children's story.
Thematic studies are developed across disciplines and related arts. Here fifth grade students see a demonstration of a teepee during their Unit study of American Indian cultures. These same students learned a Native American dance and made accompanying music.

Students are introduced to famous artists, musicians, writers, and dancers through research and attending performances.

One way students learn to appreciate famous artists is by painting in their styles. Examples are: "Emerson's Cat" in the style of Andy Warhol, done by a first grader; and "Purple Flower" in the style of Georgia O'Keefe
The arts are used to demonstrate scientific principals.
