The mission of Sterling School is to provide a differentiated, challenging education to meet the distinctive intellectual, social and emotional needs of our students.

Admissions

Sterling School serves as an elementary school of choice (4K – 5th grade) with children from the school’s surrounding neighborhoods provided first choice to attend. Sterling School also continues as the home of the county-wide gifted center, named in honor of Charles Townes, a choice program for highly gifted students in grades three through eight who qualify for the program.

Meet Our Staff

Sterling School

Sterling School is unique to Greenville County Schools in that it combines a traditional community-based elementary school with the center for highly gifted students known as the Charles Townes Center.

Charles Townes Center

Students scoring in the 97-99 percentile range of ITBS or MAP, respectively in the core areas of reading and math may be eligible to attend the Charles Townes Center in grades 3-8. Named for Greenville native Charles Hard Townes, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and educator, CTC as it is known, allows students to experience learning at a rigorous level and pace that challenges them intellectually while providing them the opportunity to become well-rounded leaders of tomorrow.
