1) InvenTeam Winner: Southside was one of 13 high schools nationwide in 2004 which won a Lemelson-MIT InvenTeams grant of up to $10,000. We proposed inventing a stair climbing robot which could carry firefighting gear up stairs and injured people down. |

| 1) Robotics Research: We have periodically conduct robotics research for the Team 281 robotics team as well as doing research projects for other competitions including award winning science fair projects. | ||
| 2) FIRST Robotics Animation Competition: We have host the animation sub-team of the Team 281 robotics team since 2002 using well equipped computers thanks to a generous grant from GE | ||
